Frequently Asked Questions:
Sidewalks and Multi-Use Paths
Q. Are there any plans to add sidewalks to the right of ways to allow easier access to the paths that I take to the Monon Trail or other destinations?
A. This is a two-sided answer.
The right-of-way along Springmill Road belongs to the City of Westfield.
Merrimac HOA is currently working with both the City of Westfield and Centennial HOA to form a partnership which would possibly allow for a path to be installed along Springmill Road. The proposed path would run from the south side of Richland Way to the intersection at 146th & Springmill Road.
Funds were allocated in the 2009 budget to contribute to this partnership - in the event all details can be worked out.
The right-of-way along 146th Street belongs to Hamiton County. There are rumors that the county is considering adding sidewalks or a multi-use path from Warner Trail to Springmill Road when 146th Street is widened.
All Merrimac residents are urged to contact representatives of both the City of Westfield and Hamiton County to voice your support for sidewalks or multi-use paths and other issues that affect residents of Merrrimac, City of Westfield and Hamiton County.
