Frequently Asked Questions:
Common Area Landscaping & Snow Removal
Q. Who maintains the landscaping in the common areas?
Q. Can Merrimac install trees between the sidewalks and curbs like Centennial?
A. Westfield will not permit us to place trees in the right-of-way.
Centennial’s were approved prior to annexation.
Q. Who is responsible for plowing Merrimac this year?
Q. How much snow must fall before the streets are plowed by the Association?
A. Not until 2 inches has fallen will the streets be plowed at the expense of the Association.
Q. Do the snow crews wait until the end of the snow fall before beginning to plow?
A. Typically, they will wait until all predicted snow has fallen so their efforts AND our money are not wasted. On occasion however, we may get a light amount of snow after the plows have been through.
Q. Don’t my property taxes pay for snow removal?
A. Yes they do. However, the City of Westfield will plow all major arteries first. Then they have a rotating schedule of approximately 40 subdivisions. We could easily be last during the worst snow storm of the year. Therefore, at a cost of approximately $25 per Lot (for the entire season) the Board has opted to enter an agreement with a private contractor.
Q. What do I do if the turf in the right-of-way near my home or mailbox is damaged?
A. Contact the Omni HELP DESK who will contact the vendor. All turf repairs are typically done at the same time in the spring
